I was humbled to recently be awarded the 2018 AIPP Western Australian Commercial Photographer of the Year at the AIPP WA Epson Professional Photography Awards.
It was my first year entering the awards and was pleasantly surprised with the feedback that the images received. What was even more rewarding was the interpretation of some of the images by the judges. This is what I love most about working with abstract images. The engagement that they sometimes require to illicit the story behind the image and the various congruencies that are drawn to other elements of nature or human endeavour.
The set of images collectively scored 2 x Golds, 1 x Silver Distinction and 1 x Silver.
I was also very fortunate to be announced as a finalist for the 2018 AIPP Western Australian Travel Photographer of the Year alongside Seng Mah and Ricky Gestro. The award deservingly went to Ricky Gestro for the second year in a row. One of my entries also registered the highest print score in the travel category.
The awards evening was a fantastic night where I had the opportunity to meet some amazing photographers from the WA fraternity, and some photographers that I have admired for a very long time.
Congratulations to the winners of all the respective categories.
