Awarded Master of Photography (with Distinction) by the NZIPP
The 2020 IRIS Professional Photography Awards were held by the New Zealand Institute of Photography (NZIPP) in August this year. The IRIS Awards are traditionally print-based awards, however, due to the challenges of 2020, the awards moved to an online platform for the first time.
The awards are judged by a panel of professional photographers who each provide a score out of 100 for a given image. Judges are then given the opportunity to challenge other judges in favour of an image if they have scored it a degree higher than the average score. This allows for a more in-depth discussion which offers a number of learning points for the entrant and other award attendees.
As part of the awards, photographers accumulate honours points towards levels of distinction within the NZIPP.
This year, Ty progressed from the Associate level to Master of Photography (with Distinction). The distinction level is gained when you have attained at least one gold award over your time of entering the awards in addition to the number of points required to achieve the Masters level.
