Western Australia’s salt lakes and in a constant state of flux, extended periods of dry weather can soon be followed by a swift downpour seemingly from nowhere. ‘Pegasus in Pink’ was a potentially once in a lifetime find. A moment in time where the water balance of the salt lakes at Hutt Lagoon illicit abstract shapes in varying shades of white, magenta, pink and indigo.
For me, one of the many lures of aerial photography is the opportunity to capture shapes and texture in the landscape that may only ever exist once. For a week, a day, an hour or just a moment. The chance that an image can be replicated in an uncontrolled environment is largely reduced leading to the ability to create a unique body of work.
